Abstract: In this talk I will present the recent results obtained in collaboration with Michele Schiavina concerning a generalization of the BV-BFV formalism to theories with non-trivial asymptotics "at infinity". The original BV-BFV framework is a tool for quantizing gauge theories on manifolds with boundary. The new idea is to extend this to situations where instead of boundary conditions one imposes falloff conditions for fields in the theory. The main example I will discuss is quantum electrodynamics on Minkowski spacetime
